Waarschuwing: Valse loterij onder de naam Microsoft Promotion Award Team!

Vandaag kreeg ik een bericht van het zogenaamde Microsoft Award Team in mijn mailbox:

Dear Lucky Winner!!!
The prestigious Microsoft and AOL has set out and successfully organized a
Sweeps takes marking the yearly anniversary. You are among five others
selected winners under draws 6+J promo program specially organized by the
Microsoft Award Department. Your e-mail address was attach to the ticket
number 008995727495 in the Random Computer Selection System (RCSS).
However your email flagged out the lucky numbers 14-21-25-40-40-47(21) and
won you the sum of (£500,000 GBP) in certified cheque credited to File
No:SBTD/9080648302/06
You are to Contact our Fiduciary agent Mr.Donald Ray for your claim
processing with the following information

Ik vond het al verdacht omdat de naam Microsoft niet voorkwam in het e-mailadres van de verzender. Na enige research gedaan te hebben op internet bleek deze mail inderdaad niet echt van Microsoft te zijn. Zie hier een reactie van Microsoft Maleisië:

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. Based on your e-mail communication, I understand that you would like to clarify if the e-mail you received indeed came from Microsoft.

We appreciate your effort for bringing this issue to our attention. However, we would like to clarify that this information is definitely not from Microsoft. The company (We) does not engage in rewarding money through chain mails.

Thank you for your continuous support of Microsoft’s products and services. Should you require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Nader onderzoek wees ook nog eens uit dat na het replyen op deze mail gevraagd wordt om je bankgegevens. Het is natuurlijk niet slim om deze gegevens zomaar aan Jan en alleman door te spelen, vanwege het feit dat er fraude mee kan worden gepleegd.
De meeste mensen zullen hier niet intrappen, maar de nodige computerleek misschien wel. Wees dus gewaarschuwd!
